GSRT 2012 Annual Meeting Summary
Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 8:40PM Greeting to the membership,
First I must apologize for the lack of communication to the members. This was the first year without a Spectrum and I fell short of filling that gap. As junior board member I will try to work with the president to provide timely information.
We changed the WEB twice this year. The previous two versions were difficult to manage and lacked user flexibility. Our new WEB has the ability for a member’s only section. We hope to embellish it to the ONE place members will go for the information and possibly education. At this meeting we will discuss this option.
It has been an extremely busy year for the Board. I want to thank each of them for their time devoted to the GSRT. The Board, like the members, has busy lives filled with work, family, and other activities, so much I want to share with you.
The Board went green this year. Our standard was 25 copies of each report and set o minutes. Instead we kept them and displayed them electronically at the Board meetings. I would like to thank Margaret Macchia, our first Student Intern, for her help and computer skills this year. In fact Margaret was such a help and a future leader we have expanded the intern program by adding 4 new interns this year.
We also were extremely active on the legislative field. Lynn Clavijo and Jim Sass worked to create a licensure draft bill. They reached out to many organizations to gain the support and momentum necessary. This effort will continue into the next year with the help of the ASRT to support a day at the capital.
We appreciate the ASRT’s help but they also have tightened their requirements for all of us. In order for the GSRT to meet the requirements, we had to change how to view our chapters. They must be incorporated to live under the GSRT umbrella. Whereras we once had 11+ societies we now only have Savannah, Columbus, Atlanta, and Gearmi , in process. We are also working with the Mammography Society. We have offered to assist any group or region interested in pursuing the creation of a new chapter. Laurie Adams, Member at Large, has been a wonderful resource and the GSRT will pay the $100.00 incorporation fees.
First, my goal this year was membership and we made several important changes:
- Created a member number for better tracking
- Changed the fee schedule to correspond with when the membe uoined not our fiscal year.
- Provided a onetime fee for students for the entire school experience
- Provide the students with a coupon upon graduation of $10.00 to join as an R.T.
- With the help of the ASRT, we did a member survey, will discuss under new business.
- A Fall Seminar in Albany. Linda Palardy facilitated a great meeting and we gained 40+ new members .
